4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Farm To School Ag Day

Annually, Canby School District third grade classes are brought to North Willamette Research Extension Center (NWREC) to explore a working farm and learn about agriculture from regional experts. Clackamas County 4-H faculty help coordinate the event to support interactive, age-appropriate stations that introduced third grade youth to agriculture, animals, 4-H and FFA opportunities for their future interests and career.

NWREC faculty and staff provide educational stations that focused on their individual programs, such as vegetables, berries, orchard crops, Christmas trees, small farms, tractors, IR4 (pest management), and nursery/greenhouse. 4-H staff create an interactive station with information and brief activities from youth club project areas related to farming, plants/horticulture, animal science, and 4-H youth programs.
