4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Virtual Babysitter Training

Annually, Oregon 4-H educators deliver Virtual 4-H Babysitter Training workshops to youth. Training is offered twice a year, in November and April, and consisted of four 90-minute classes.
These trainings are designed for youth, ages 10-18 to participate in an online, virtual classroom. Trainers use questions, scenarios, and discussion to help youth learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care. Students also learn the ages and stages of child development, baby care, toddler care, healthy snacks, business tips, age-appropriate games, basic first aid and safety. Youth participate in six hours of online training, interactive activities and take a quiz at the end to earn a certificate of completion.
Though the collaborative effort of twenty-five 4-H educators, more than 350 capable teen babysitters have been trained and certified to help families in their community.
