ABOUT US

The Agriculture team in Clackamas County hails from three distinct programs; Small Farms, Field Crops, and The North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC).

The Small Farms Program serves small farm entrepreneurs as well as non-commercial small acreage landowners in the state’s most populous area. They collaborate with a rich network of farm support organizations in the region, hosting workshops for the farm community. Their focus embraces ecological farming systems.

The Field Crops Program is a part of the Willamette Valley Field Crops Extension, which provides research-based information for commercial cereal grain, grass seed, legume seed and oil crop producers.

NWREC is the most agriculturally diverse of OSU’s research and extension centers based on the number of commercial agricultural crops they work with. Located on 160 acres in Clackamas County near Aurora, just 20 miles from downtown Portland and one mile south of the city’s urban growth boundary — it is the only agricultural research center serving the Willamette Valley — in the heart of Oregon’s most productive farming region.
