Clackamas Master Gardeners Recognized for Excellence
A team of dedicated Master Gardeners were recognized in 2023 for their work developing and delivering the “Let’s Grow Together! 10-Minute University™ Webinar Series” by being awarded the Oregon Master Gardener Association’s statewide “Search for Excellence” award. The award recognizes superior Master Gardener volunteer work across the state of Oregon.
This webinar series sprouted in response to the COVID pandemic and has proved to be so successful that it has continued as an exceptional community service program. The annual series offers 1-hour long webinars packed with practical and proven gardening guidance. Topics range from “Growing Early Season Vegetables” to “Gardening for Wildlife”. Webinars are streamed live and recorded allowing participation for individual schedules. Since its inception in 2021, the “Let’s Grow Together!” series has had over 50,000 views.

Additionally, gardeners were able to get up-close and personal at 8 hands-on garden workshops that the 10-Minute University team delivered, to over 115 gardeners. The workshops focused on a range of topics from Growing Native Plants to Pruning a Mature Apple Tree. The 10-Minute University tradition continued at the Clackamas County Master Gardener’s 2023 Spring Garden Fair where 10-Minute University classes were a popular feature, with nearly 300 people learning practical and proven gardening practices.
Congratulations and sincere gratitude to the 10-Minute University team of Cheryl Borden, Jane Collier, Karen Day, Laura Eyer, Sherry Holley, Leah Puhlman, Priscilla Robinson, Sherry Sheng, Shawn Van Doren, and Amelia Wilbur for their remarkable dedication to serving the public as garden educators.
