Clackamas Family and Community Health (FCH) partnered with Oregon City and North Clackamas DHS and the Oregon Food Bank to provide crucial food access and culinary enrichment to the community. Over eight months, FCH participated in sixteen Free Food Markets, distributing fresh produce alongside seasonal recipes from the Food Hero program.

To enhance the food’s nutritional value and cultural relevance, participants received seed packets in the spring and spice packets in the fall. The fall spice distribution was particularly impactful, with community members reporting reduced salt intake and the ability to recreate familiar flavors from their heritage. This initiative addressed the high cost of spices, particularly for those in rural areas with limited access to affordable options. The positive response from participants, including requests for monthly participation, highlights the significant contribution of this program to food security and community well-being. Clackamas FCH is currently exploring options for expanding spice distribution in 2025.
