FORESTRY AND NATURAL RESOURCES

Building Connections, Strengthening Partnerships

A healthy forest ecosystem thrives on a web of relationships and interconnected elements, and the same principle applies to the Extension Forestry and Natural Resources program in Clackamas County. This past year, focus was placed on strengthening existing partnerships and forming exciting new collaborations. The flagship event, Tree School, attracted over 750 participants in 2024, made possible through the dedication of an exceptional network of instructors, volunteers, and community supporters. Through emerging partnerships, new educational field workshops were made available including Forestry for the Birds, Bigleaf Maple Sugaring, and Spoon Carving.

Additionally, the program took time to honor Rob Guttridge, a long-time Extension supporter who passed away in October. Rob contributed in numerous roles—student, volunteer, committee member, and instructor. His calm demeanor and collaborative spirit guided countless efforts over the years. At the annual Extension and Engagement Conference, Rob was posthumously awarded the OSU Extension Association Cooperator Award, a recognition shared with his family.
